Our home

My home is very comfortable, nicely furnished in the Colonial style typical of Williamsburg. It has three levels. The lower level is downstairs and has two double beds, laundry room, computer, sofa and chairs. The middle level is hallway, comfortably sized kitchen with breakfast nook for eating and continues into a large dining room and living room with back door out to patio. The patio has wicker furniture and grilling amenities, table and umbrella. There is another bathroom in the hallway on this level. The upper level has a very large master bedroom and a good sized guest bedroom, both with double beds, tv and phone and the bathroom connects both bedrooms, each with it's own private door. Central heat and air conditioning. I am retired now and purchased my home last year. It has been newly painted all through, the decore is pleasant and there is no lack of comfort in any room. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes, cooking utensils. Satellite tv in master bedroom, living room and lower level. The house is carpeted throught all levels.

Who we are

  1. I live alone. I retired five years ago after spending my adult life working in Social Services with the State. I have two grown children here in Williamsburg, a son, daughter-in-law and new grandbaby, a daughter not married and a son, wife and two grandchildren in California. I spend alot of my time now doing the things I wished I'd had time to do all the years I worked. My daughter is a registerd nurse, my son here just completed his Phd. at William and Mary here in Wmsbg. and my son in Ca retired from the Navy. My daughter and I are enjoying traveling and went to Ireland, Scotland and Wales last october. England is my home, I was born in Bradford, Yorks. and enjoy going back as much as possible. I grew up in Amersham and went to boarding school in Chertsey, Surrey, came to the states with family many years ago and have deep loyalties to both countries.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

My neighborhood consists of only one street and is called Raleigh Square. It is on the Jamestown Rd. which begins three miles down in the heart of Colonial Williamsburg and goes one mile past my house to the Jamestown Settlement, James River, campgrounds, the boat ferry and many other places of interest. It is very quiet here, people leave early in the a.m. to go to their respective jobs, parking is not a problem. The landscaping and common areas surrounding the town homes is very nice and kept immaculate. I am one hour driving time from Richmond, 90 minutes from Charlottesville, the mountains and Washington, D.C. We have an Amtrak station here. This is the home of the famous Williamsburg Pottery Factory. I would recommend checking the Colonial Wmsbg. and Jamestown websites for things going on. There is so much to see here, the restored areas have things going on all year. We have lovely restaurants here, The Williamsburg Inn and Lodge is second to none in this country. We are only a couple of miles from the Colonial Parkway along the York River and since we live on a peninsula are surrounded by all sorts of bodies of water. The Blue Ridge Mountains are 90 mins. away driving and one can ride the Amtrak train to New York, approx. 6-8 hours. The beaches (ocean) are 45min. to hour away, Virginia Beach, Chics Beach etc, The website Mapquest.com will give you a total picture of this area.
