Our home

Sunny house in the woods on 6 private acres within a rural subdivision of 20 homes and wonderful neighbors. Comfortable, well-appointed home with outdoor decks overlooking the creek. We're just a short distance from the Wild and Scenic Trinity River. In the main house there is a bedroom and full bath upstairs and a kitchen, study, with a sofa-bed in the open living area downstairs. Although we have satellite TV and internet access, the TV mostly resides in a closet where it can be rolled out for use. We have a garden which should be producing vegetables and fruit during the period that you would be visiting. We have a lovely flower and vegetable garden which is automatically watered and produces fruits, vegetables and flowers during the summer and early fall months. You can enjoy the harvest yourself or our neighbors will collect the bounty. Our place was originally built as a vacation home, but we have turned it into our treasured home. We would consider an automobile exchange. (2001 Subaru. Sorry, steering wheel is located on the left.)

Who we are

  1. Sarah and I, having raised our own children, are ready for new adventures. Sarah is an administrator for the Klamath-Trinity School Dist. located in the Hoopa Indian Reservation. I am a computer consultant and part-time finish carpenter. We love gardening, hiking, reading, traveling, and computer related activities. We visited Scotland in Sept. 2004 and are eager to return for an extended stay. Sarah has been to Scotland four previous times and we thoroughly enjoy searching Highland Ancestry ancient history.

Your neighbourhood

Our house is located at Burnt Ranch, in the moutains of the Trinity River Valley, situated about one hour from the Pacific Ocean and the local airport. The historic gold-mining town of Weaverville is located just 45 minutes to the east on Highway 299. The famous Chinese Joss House, museums, displays, demonstrations and special events can be enjoyed there during the summer. The temperature in July can range from 95F(35C) during the day to 50F(10C)at night. We enjoy warm afternoons and evenings, but it always cools down enough to sleep comfortably without air conditioning. We're located about 10 minutes from the beautiful Trinity River which affords us opportunities for swimming, salmon and steelhead fishing, kayaking and rafting. You can shop for necessities at the small grocery store in Salyer, just 8 minutes from our home, and within 16 minutes is the town of Willow Creek where you can find a large grocery shopping, several restaurants, a bakery, several wineries, fresh local produce, gift shopping, medical facilities, a museum and a golf course with the Hoopa Indian Reservation just north where you can experience their museum and culture. Within an hours drive you can visit the Pacific coast where there is a University town, fine dining, museums, the Coastal Redwoods, deep-sea fishing, golfing, surfing, movies and shopping.
