Our home

My late wife and I downsized and moved here in 2002 with the thought of moving to an apartment in Philadelphia or New York City. We loved it so much we've never left. We front on the Delaware River between Yardley and Washington Crossing, PA. We back on the canal with miles of bike riding, kayak and swim in the river and hike on its islands. It's like being on permanent holiday and yet we're so close to the cities.

NY City is 1.2 hours north by train from Hamilton Station, NJ, Philly is 45 minutes south by train from Yardley. Princeton is 25 minutes and the Jersey Shore one hour away by car. Bucks County is beautiful. All our guests have been amazed by this secret part of the USA. The little towns up the river are a lot like England with a strong Quaker influence. It's hard to believe you're so close to dynamic cities. You can even drive down to Washington, DC in three hours.

My new wife, Shanti, and I have been gratified by the amazing, generous, kind, interesting people we have met so far on home swaps. I have swapped my car on previous swaps but I'd prefer not for future swaps. Rental cars here are inexpensive but we can talk about it, if you feel strongly. Shanti has rented out her home and has moved in with rather too much stuff so at present our spare bedroom has become her closet. We are working on clutter so we may have two bedrooms and a study with a bed again soon.

We have traveled widely and hope to spend more time in Asia, Africa, North and South America and locally. We have grand children and friends to visit so we are generally flexible about your visit, if the swap is not simultaneous.

Who we are

  1. Frank grew up in Cowra, NSW and Sydney, Australia and has lived in Vancouver, BC, Silifke, Turkey, Seattle, Dallas, Florida, Yardley and Washington Crossing for long periods of time and many other places for shorter periods. I have been very lucky to travel with my work. I am a recovering engineer and consult in Project Management. http://twgpm.com/

Shanti grew up in the USA, Zurich and The Netherlands and speaks several languages. We are traveling a lot more since she retired last May but grand children may slow us down.

We meet our Aussie friends to travel somewhere each year, most recently England, Croatia, Iceland, Italy, France, Spain, Yorkshire Dales, Tasmania, South America. We recently spent 10 weeks in Australia and 3 weeks in Florida.

We have some magic, eccentric friends all over the world and house swapping is helping increase the number.

  2. We have downsized. Our home is a small Cape Cod and a little rustic but in a fantastic location.

Your neighbourhood

We are convenient to both Newark (EWR) and Philly airports. Trenton Airport is even closer and often less expensive, if you can get a flight on Frontier to and from there. JFK is quite a hassle, depending on traffic.

This describes Bucks County.

New Hope, PA and Lambertville, NJ are magic towns, just up the river.
