Our home

We are located on Venice Island in a lovely quiet neighborhood, only five minutes to the Venice beaches and our historic downtown. This open floor plan spacious ranch style home features tile floors, a wall of windows looking out to private garden area, a small fountain, screened in patio, fenced private yard. Newer large kitchen, furniture and updates in a high quality, comfortable and attractive home. There are two nice sized bedrooms with king size bed in master and queen four poster bed in 2nd guest bedroom, with ample closet space. There are two full baths with tub and showers. The family (TV) room also includes a gorgeous modern style fireplace and Italian tile floors. The front of the home has palm trees and two large black oak trees with a circular driveway leading to the front of the home. The kitchen is loaded with cupboards, with an island, newer stainless steel appliances and extra items for the family cook. Enjoy your morning coffee, lunch or dinner sitting outdoors on the lanai. We have two beloved cats, Georgie and Tuppance, they are very friendly and loving. We can have a cat sitter come in to care for them if you like. If non simultaneous they will be with us. We are happy to care for your cat or dog. We love this home, Venice Island, and Florida and we believe you will too.

Who we are

  1. We are Ray and Marlyce. Ray is retired as Real Estate Broker and Owner. Marlyce, a Doctor of Education, is semi-retired from educational consulting and university teaching. We are in our early 70s and both love to travel. We belong to the Royal Oak Society (National Trust in England). We enjoy visiting historic homes, churches, cathedrals, art and cultural museum in all the places we've visited . We have a daughter and two teenage grandchildren who live in CA. We have traveled the USA extensively and to Europe approx. every other year, or yearly, since the late 70's. We've taken five transatlantic cruise to England with a home exchange in England and Wales each time. We've also taken a Baltic/ St. Petersburg cruise out of Harwich and a Norway cruise from Southampton, both resulting in a home exchange. We have traveled to England, Wales, Italy, Switzerland, France, Germany, Ireland, Belgium, Mexico, Switzerland, Italy, Iceland, Baltics, Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, Mexico, Canada and Russia. We also traveled independently without exchanges and rent homes or apartments. We have had home exchanges in England in 2016 (2) and one in 2015, 2013, 2011, 2009. Also three week exchanges in Canada and Wales. We enjoy meeting people and making new friends. We have had many very successful and fun exchanges. We are open to non simultaneous exchanges. We are quick to make travel plans and look forward to hearing from you. There are many reasons to come to the Gulf Coast of Florida, but none greater than the picture-postcard, crystal-white sands and turquoise waters of this beautiful area. The beaches not only provide fun for everyone, they are also good for body and soul.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Our home is located on the Island of Venice, Florida, on the Gulf of Mexico. Venice Island is a delightful place to stroll the downtown boulevard separated by a park for walkers and joggers and step into shops, boutiques, and restaurants built in the Mediterranean-revival style or stop by the gazebo for some entertainment. Our home is located in a residential neighborhood 5 minutes from Venice Beach (where a coral reef is located a quarter mile offshore for snorkling and scuba diving, or take a walk for miles along one of the many Venice Island beaches.) The Venetian Walkway, a ten mile paved walking and biking path is 1 block away, the Heritage Bike and Walking Trail (20+ miles) is open to Sarasota. Downtown Venice, the grocery store, pharmacy and hospital are minutes away by car or you can walk or bike to them if you would like. Venice Island is great because you can bike everywhere. The downtown is wonderful and the people are friendly. Venice is 20 minutes from Siesta Key, named #1 beach in USA, and one of the best beaches in the world. Sarasota is 20 minutes, Tampa 75 minutes, Orlando 2.5 hours (Disney) and Ft. Meyers 75 minutes away. The Van Wezel performing Arts Center is in Sarasota and has many stars performing there. Dining on the Gulf Coast presents a delicious dilemma. There are so many choices from fine dining to casual around every corner. The sunsets on the Gulf of Mexico are spectacular and unforgetable. Many of the locals and visitors meet at Venice Beach to watch the sunset on the Gulf. Your lawn chairs are awaiting your arrival.
