Our home

Our pretty house is on one floor, with two Bedrooms, built in 1904, before Arizona was even a State. The front is shaded by two huge Palm trees, and there is one in the back garden, where all the desert birds come to feed, including, several species of hummingbird. We are in the West University Historic Area, near to the University of Arizona and the 4 th Avenue entertainment district, with many Bars and Restaurants,it is also a 15 minute walk to downtown. The House is on the Historic Register.

Property features

Who we are

  1. We are both retired, in our mid to late 60's, one of us from England the other from Brasil. We love to travel, both in and outside Europe. We are have lived in Italy, England and the Hudson Valley in the USA. The people of Tucson are just great, outgoing, sincere and friendly, of course 360 days of sunshine year round does help! But avoid the "Monsoon" July and August, when temperatures can be high and little sticky. We have an "Evaporative Cooler" (sometimes called a swamp cooler), it works fine in the dry heat, but Moosoon time we need the supplement of window A/C.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Tucson is Diverse,a Spanish/Mexican presence goes back many decades, in fact centuries. There are restaurants from all over the world. Its an Arty and Funky City of over one million. Mountain Ranges surround Tucson and provide relief from summer Desert heat. Where we live is called the West University Historic Neighborhood. Nearby are Theatres ( Rogue, the Red Barn ect). Our neighbourhood is one with many 1920's, or earlier era houses. There are several City Buses serving the area, and in 2013 there will be a Modern Street Car. The University, with a beautiful Campus, is easily walked to and has several Museums, including a fine Photography museum. Services in the area are easily Walkable. There are performances at Centennial Hall, and in Downtown there is an Opera and Symphony season. Reid Park, home of the Tucson Zoo, is a ten minute drive, as are several golf courses. Tucsonians are really naturally friendly and down to earth people, sincere in there welcome. We are 20 minutes from Tucson Airport, though sometimes fares to Phoenix are cheaper.Phoenix is under two hours by shuttle. Tombstone and the old mining town of Bisbee are close. Cool Mount Lemmon ,at over 9000ft, is an hours drive. The observatories at Mount Kitt are an hour away. The Desert Museum, the Biosphere, Sabino Canyon and Saguaro National Park are near. Many American Indian Tribes make Arizona their home, including, Tohono O'odham, Hopi. Navaho, and Apache. The Grand Canyon is a five hour drive.
