Our home

Two story territorial style home in El Prado, just north of Taos. Master bedroom with King size bed is on the first floor and there is a queen size in the loft above the living room. The upstairs has the loft, an office alcove, and bedroom which my wife is converting into her office and a music room. There is also a bathroom with shower.
All rooms have in floor radiant heat with thermostat for zone heating.

Property features

Who we are

  1. We are Paul and Kelly and have recently married and retired. We are interested in travel, walking, local live music, and history. Kelly has many food allergies/intolerances, so we tend to cook in more than eating out.

We share our home with Lokki, a toy pomeranian, and Trinity, a calico cat. Depending on the length of the exchange Lokki may travel with us.

Paul has exchanged before, Ireland, Germany, and North Carolina.

  2. Currently unable to exchange until at least November of 2019.

Your neighbourhood

Taos has been an artist mecca since the early 1900s. Taos Pueblo, about 10 minutes east of us, is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Taos Ski Valley is about a 30 minute drive. There is also a ski bus from town. For a look at self sustaining home building you can check out the Earthship community ( www.earthship.net ) 10 minutes northwest. Santa Fe Opera is 1.5 hour drive south of Taos. If you want to learn more about the history of Taos check out the museums at: www.taosmuseums.org

Best restaurants
My wife as food allergies, but these are some that we enjoy. Crossfire, Salt and WIne, Antonio's, 5 Star Burger, and the Taos Burger Stand.
Nightlife
Not much really. Many places have music every evening, but things shut down around 9:30 or 10 p.m. with the exception of the Alley Cantina.
Favourite cafés
The Coffee Spot
Where to go shopping
The Bent Street Shops
Your area's cultural and historical landmarks
Taos Pueblo. The Millicent Rogers Museum is best for getting an understanding of the three cultures that settled here.
Local walks
Around Old Town and the galleries or for hiking the West Rim trail or Divisidero trail south east of town.
Places you love to exercise
I like to ride my bike around town, but fairly close to home is High Altitude Fitness.
Top day trips
Ojo Caliente Spa, 45 minutes, Taos Ski Valley, 20 minutes, Great Dunes National Monument in Colorado, 90 minutes, Taos Pueblo, 10 minutes, Santa Fe art galleries, 90 minutes.
