Our home

My house is open beam framed with large picture windows & has a skylight or two in every room. From most windows is a beautiful view of the gardens. The house sits far back off the road. The main part of the house is open with a large kitchen, adjoining dining area and living room. The master bedroom is 12' X 20' with modern furnishings and a 32" HDTV with cable. There is Wi-fi. This room has a queen bed and a single futon. The 2nd bedroom has a double bed and beautiful antiques & Hawaiian motif. A 3rd bedroom has a double bed with Baja, Mexico furnishings and art. There are also 2 other rentals on the property that are rented to a professional woman and a young man who is often not home. Exchanging cars is possible. The deck overlooks a large fenced back yard that is private and has many trees, flowers and a garden patio with BBQ and fire pit. There is a patio off the 200 square foot luxury bathroom with a small hot tub under the stars. This is the only bathroom and rarely the tenant uses it as he has his own bathroom but uses the commode only. I have one 1 cat who has automatic food and water. I rent 2 bedrooms in my house on airbnb.com so the house is perfectly clean all the time. I would be open for simultaneous exchanges or a non simultaneous exchange in a beautiful Ireland location, many Mexican destinations, Amsterdam or The Netherlands, Tredegar, Wales, Moribhon Bay, France, Hawaii, Pacific Islands, Greek islands, remote ocean/snorkeling Philippines, Savannah, Charleston or Quebec City, Sanguenay Fijord, Nova Scotia, Burlington, Vermont or Detroit, Michigan in the city only. I am open for exchanges in warm months only in snowy destinations. I am OK with a last minute exchange sometimes....no hurt in asking. I will want references.

Who we are

  1. I am a retired woman, English Second Language Teacher, 65 years old. I play and perform with local ukulele groups, mostly rock and roll. I am an ex-Public School teacher. And I spent 22 years in the construction industry and am now happily retired from construction. I was a sea kayaking guide in the San Juan Islands in Washington State, here in the Bay Area and also in Loreto, Baja, Mexico in the early 90's. I can tell you about this lovely destination, Loreto, and the wonderful company, Paddling & Saddling South, that I worked for there that still runs beautiful trips into the mountains in Central Baja to see the cave paintings now thought to be the world's best or sea kayaking trips along the Sea of Cortez coast. I love gourmet cooking.....the kitchen is well-equipped. I am also a gardener and in the garden there are fruits and herbs and perhaps vegetables (depending the season) to pick and savor. I have a single and a double kayak to use for well experienced kayakers.... (you would have to transport this boat with your racks). I would be open to exchange cars. I have a 2004 Prius, 4 door hatchback. I will take good care of your house & pets if you have them (easier with cat(s) but open to dog(s) with back up support (dog people to give me breaks and kennel?) unless dog likes to travel and pet-friendly hotels/stays are available). I have 1 independent cat, "Friendy", who uses a cat door & has an automatic watering and feeding system. She is an expert rester. I have never had such a sweet, soft cuddly cat. She has no bad habits. She is all good! I do not smoke and will not be traveling with pets. But if you have a dog or cat....that's easy for me as long as I have a back up caretaker is I want to go somewhere for a day or 2 pet free. Please no smoking in my house. I have children but they are adults 27-39. Most of the time there is only me traveling but I may travel with one of my children and their partners or a friend or two. I will care for your house as I want mine cared for. I will want references. I have exchanged my house numerous times and all experiences have been lovely....great way to make new friends.
