Our home

Our home is comfortable and clean, with plenty of room for a large family. The main floor has a large kitchen and attached family room, dining room and sitting area, library and bathroom. Downstairs are three large bedrooms, a sitting area, bathroom, and laundry room. Upstairs is a master suite with bathroom and walk-in closet. There is a large deck off of the family room, which opens out to a fenced-in backyard with a raised vegetable garden. Our neighborhood is quiet, but with very friendly neighbors, many of whom you can meet out walking their dogs or tending to their gardens. Seattle is wonderful in the summer, and especially in August, when the temperature is usually in the 70- 80's.

Who we are

  1. John, my husband, works for the City of Seattle, and I (Elizabeth) am a nurse at the University of Washington. We have three children, ages 9, 13, and 15. We love to travel, and hope a home exchange will allow us to venture further! We would especially like to visit Italy, where we have family outside of Naples, or London.

Your neighbourhood

We are in a quiet neighborhood of single-family homes close to historic downtown Ballard, and four blocks from major bus routes to downtown Seattle. We are three blocks from a school playground, or seven blocks from Salmon Bay Park, which is a shady greenspace with a lovely playground for young children. A mile to the west is Golden Gardens Park on the shore of the Puget Sound, and a mile to the east is Greenlake, where Seattlites of all shapes and sizes walk, run, bike or rollerblade the 2.8 mile path around the lake. In the summer you can also swim there. We are a 25 minute bus ride or a 12 minute drive to downtown Seattle, where you can enjoy great restaurants, shopping, theater and music. Seattle is surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty, and a short drive could bring you to Mt. Rainier, the Olympic rain forest, the San Juan Islands, or the Columbia River. Vancouver, BC, is 2 hrs to the north, and Portland is 2.5 hrs to the south.
