Our home

This is a great apartment, hardwood floor (except in the bedrooms), lots of light. Although it is located at the heart of the city (2 blocks from Union Square), it is very quiet, with direct backyard for BBQs, children play. We have been living in it for 10 years because we can't convince ourself to move somewhere else...

The main living room is big (around 500 sq ft) with diner area on one level, and three steps down to the living area. The kitchen has a open worktable communicating with the diner area, which makes it very nice.

One of the bedrooms has windows toward the backyard, directly overlooking an *avocado* tree (that actually gives avocados !): from the queen bed you feel like in a forest, in the middle of the city. (The other bedroom is a little darker with bunk beds). There are 2 one person convertible in the living room.

To access the backyard, you must go down 10 steps, and you can have diner outside ! there's a table, a BBQ, and it's bigger than most suburban gardens.. (probably over 1000 sq. ft).

Property features

Who we are

  1. We are French but have been living in SF for 10 years. We have two kids - which seems that the apartment would be a little small, but it is working out very well, as the kids are really not devils, they are used to live in the city and to be careful about noise, safety... The yard makes it great for them to play outside (basketball, swings...), take care of the plants; we practically live without using the car.

My wife works in the financial district, which is about 10 blocks away, and I am an independent software consultant, usually working at customer sites. We enjoy the area for its theaters, restaurants... and the high-availability of baby sitter thanks to the Art University located next door: once the kids are in bed, we can go outside !

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Union Square / Nob Hill is the Theater/nightlife/shopping center of San Francisco. It's one the most touristic area, not without reasons. If you use our apartment, you'll enjoy all of it, but instead of staying in a small hotel room, you'll have a fulll apartment.

We're interested to swap it for one week, from April 14th to April 21st (during spring break), in exchange to a similar apartment in Manhattan. Exchange does not have to be simultaneous as we will be out of the city in July.
