“I've thought long and hard about writing a "negative revue" of my stay at the Astons, but after receiving a note from Ms. Aston directing any further comments from me to her attorney, I found that a bit off-putting, so here I go: There were small things bothersome in the home upon arrival: car was dirty with half tank of gas, there was an overflowing waste basket and lots of other trash near master bed, house had not been swept, handle fell off dryer which made drying any laundry impossible, the h and the c fell off hot and cold handles, and several cockroaches or water bugs made themselves at home. Also, even a 20 minutes discussion with Mr. Aston could not convey how to use their many TV remotes. I bought several items for the kitchen and left several bottles of wine in the fridge upon departure. I left my car clean and filled with gas. I went on a road trip during which time the O ring suddenly left the power steering dysfunctional. The total charge was $141.00 which I paid. I did put about 100 miles on the Aston's car, (they put about 500 on mine), but the O ring would have gone eventually. I was disappointed that the Astons did not reimburse. Also, I was VERY diligent about paying ALL toll charges in Texas. The Astons used a toll road in my car and did not pay. It was MOST fortunate that I discovered this in time to avoid a VERY large fine and blemish on my record. All in all, my experience could have been a whole lot worse, but when I was threatened with the intervention of an attorney when I expressed my disappointment in not being reimbursed for the O ring, I decided to write this revue. EVERY other home exchange in which I have participated has been simply WONDERFUL and I look forward to many more successful exchanges in the future. Thank you.”
