Our home

We would like to introduce you to wonderful Wyoming, USA, with its abundance of wildlife and wide open spaces! Our home is a large, comfortable two-story over a basement with a large paved driveway, enclosed back yard, and huge garage. Our cozy little town of Rawlins (population 8000) is not a bustling city by any means! Our house was built in 1921 but we have learned that it was moved into our neighborhood sometime in the 1950's. It has lots of large trees and a mountain to climb, literally in our backyard. The town has a herd of deer that have become quite tame. Our house has 6 bedrooms. The 3 upstairs bedrooms are currently configured to sleep 6 (a King bed in one room, three twin size beds in a second bedroom and a baby crib in the third bedroom). We also have a bedroom on the main floor, currently used as a toy room. We could arrange to move in a twin bed or a full size air mattress for the floor. Finally, we have 2 unfurnished bedrooms in our basement. In fact, our finished basement offers a lot of space but it is mostly unfurnished and unused because our family of 5 just doesn't require the space yet. Our kitchen is very large and newly remodeled. It can seat 8+ for meals. Included are modern appliances. We also have a washing machine and dryer for your use in a separate room off the kitchen. Our living room is large and has seating for 8 as well. We have a big screen TV and all of the usual electronic gadgets there is an office area in the kitchen.

Who we are

  1. We are a family of five. Dad Rob (34) operates the espresso and ice cream shop we own while Mom Krista (30) takes care of the kids and does bookwork for our businesses at home. We also own a rental real estate company and Krista has taken this year off from her small Christian preschool because we are expecting our 4th child!. Our kids are son Spencer (5) and daughters Hadley (4) and Briar (18 months). We have traveled quite a lot and we enjoy bringing our kids along! They are experienced little travelers and well-disciplined, mild-mannered children. We look forward to a home exchange with a family whose children might enjoy our house full of toys and children's books!

I would be happy to recommend a good baby-sitter if that interests you. Also, our friends would be willing to offer you help, advice, or hospitality during your stay. We have family living very close (within blocks) and they would surely be helpful. If you are at our home on a Tuesday night you will be receiving a meal cooked by my cooking club! I would love to assemble a care package for you filled with our favorite American snacks and cooking ingredients. Please feel free to use my cookbooks....I am a collector of great recipes and I hope you love cooking and dining in our kitchen.

Our house is well-kept and clean but comfortable for a family. Let's consider trading!

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We have some very good restaurants, including Thai, Chinese, American (sandwiches, burgers) and the usual fast food that Americans so love. We have the best Mexican food on the PLANET in Rawlins! You must try it if you visit. For shopping we have a nice, well-stocked grocery store and two or three discount stores. Everything in town can be reached in 3-5 minutes by car!! Please note there is NO public transportation here! We have several shops for gift items and art, however, if you want to do a lot of shopping it would require about 2 hrs drive in any of several directions. Our town has a paved walking path all around it & several beautiful parks full of squirrels, deer. We have a wonderful Rec Center (gym) with a low entry fee and a free indoor public swimming pool at the high school. We also have a couple of museums in the area related to the Old West, a movie theater, and a nice public library. Because we want you to love our piece of the world as much as we do, we will gladly put together a packet of info. To help guide you to the types of activities your family would enjoy. There are services not far from here to take a guided river rafting tour, do mountain hiking, horseback riding, fishing, etc. In the fall you could even hunt for large game (elk, deer, antelope)with a license. There are some wonderful nearby towns for overnight stays and Yellowstone National Park is worth the trip! It is brimming with buffalo, elk, swans, and other amazing wildlife!
