Our home

We offer a handicap-accessible 1 bedroom apartment, fully furnished, that is attached as an accessory unit to our home. It is located on 3 acres, mostly wooded. Guests have a private deck overlooking the River, and use of our floating dock, canoe, and inner tubes ... or bring your own kayak (no white water on the Tualatin, however). Lots of oppportunity for wildlife viewing (birds, otter, beaver, fish). A computer (and printer) is available, if requested, on our wireless home network. A 36 inch TV is in the living room, and a 14" TV is in the bedroom. Service is by satellite. A rollaway bed (or beds) could be rented for the living room, if more than 2 people need to be accomodated. The exchange need not be simultaneous.

Property features

Who we are

  1. Monica is an environmental lawyer and law professor and Robin is a psychiatric nurse. We are semi-retired. Our children are grown, but live nearby. We enjoy traveling, but dislike the sterility of hotels and the forced ambience of most B&B's. We built the 1 bedroom apartment as an accessory unit for Robin's parents, who have since passed away. We now make it available for use by friends and family.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We are located 11 miles south of the center of downtown Portland. It is easily accessible by car, air, or train. Our home is located within a block of a running/walking/biking path along the Tualatin River. A boat ramp for motor boats is located 1 mile south at Cook Park. However, the Tualatin River is a 'no wake' zone in the vicinity of our home, and best suited to kayakers and canoeists.
