Our home

Our home was built in 1984 and remodeled in 2004 - new kitchen, master bedroom, and hall bath. It sits about 100 meters from the road on 12.5 acres (about 5 hectares) of land. There is a deck off of the kitchen and another off of the master bedroom. We have a finished basement with two offices one of which can be used as a third bedroom. The home is secluded and offers a privacy and quiet.

Who we are

  1. I am a 59 year old former professor of sociology at the University of San Diego where I taught courses in criminology, criminal justice, the sociology of sport, and the sociology of developing nations. My wife, Diane, is a marriage and family counselor with extensive experience working not only with couples, but children with drug problems and victims of violent crimes. We are avid hikers and sometime backpackers and love to travel. We have spent a considerable amount of time in Europe over the years. I speak passable French, some Spanish and can get by in Polish and Slovak. My wife understands some French and Spanish. We have two grown daughters and a six-year-old granddaughter. We had a very successful exchange in 2002 with a family from Grenoble, France.
