Our home

Our home was self-built in 2002 when we took early (semi) retirement. It is built to take advantage of the wonderful views all around us and is very warm and comfortable. We have satellite tv and fast internet access. The house is over 2 floors with the upper floor being completely open plan, we use it as a lounge/study/library and office.

Property features

Who we are

  1. We are in our mid fifties and were fortunate enough to take early retirement 5 years ago - Frank from his own architectural practice and Joan from providing him with uncomplaining support. Our 2 girls are grown - one being happily married and living in Hereford, and the other happily single and living in Bristol. We enjoy hiking and our friends and neighbours companionship. Frank still dabbles in a little architecture and Joan works a couple of days a week for the British Red Cross at a centre for the elderly. We are experienced home exchangers and have had wonderful holidays in Australia and the USA. We are looking forward to spending more time in South Africa and looking forward to hearing from you.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Our village of Bont Dolgadfan is in a highly scenic area with hills all around. The villagers are friendly and helpful with a strong sense of community. There are large numbers of hiking paths in the area and mid-Wales is gaining national renown as a cycling venue. The coast is 45 minutes drive away and there are numbers beautiful sandy beaches. Our most local town is Machynlleth which has a weekly market and good shopping. The mountains of Snowdonia are within 45 minutes drive and the cities of Chester, Birmingham and Shrewsbury are a couple of hours drive.
