Our home

My duplex apartment in the heart of Manhattan features master bedroom (queen sized bed), large kitchen, formal dining room, living room and full bathroom on the main floor. Downstairs has a second full bath and two small rooms, each with a full sized bed. There is a washer and dryer in the apartment.

Built in 1870, this apartment has original wood floors, exposed brick and tin ceilings. Our home is on the first floor at the parlor level, with 6 steps up from the sidewalk (no elevator or ramp available). The garden deck is lovely in the spring and summer.

Who we are

  1. I am a psychologist living and working in New York CIty. Occasionally, one or both of my adult children may travel with me. I have 2 cats who would prefer to remain at home with you (I am happy to trade pet care and the cats are very easy to care for). I've swapped homes before (references available) and loved our trips to London, Seattle, Vermont, Paris and Vancouver.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We are located in Manhattan's Upper East Side with Central Park and Museum Mile (Metropolitan, Guggenheim, Frick, Whitney, etc.) a short walk away. This is the best of Manhattan - a nice, family neighborhood, but close to many destinations.. There are two subway stations nearby - the 4/5/6 trains, and the brand-new Q train. Grocery stores, delicatessens and world class restaurants are within a few blocks. A short taxi ride takes you to the lights of Broadway. This is a perfect base for touring all New York City has to offer.

Best restaurants
Too many to count - excellent restaurants in every direction.
Nightlife
This is a quiet neighborhood, but nightlife abounds in NYC and is easily accessible by taxi or subway.
Favourite cafés
There are lovely bakeries and delis nearby where you can sit outside and enjoy coffee and a treat. Try the garden at the Cooper-Hewitt Museum of Design right down the street.
Where to go shopping
Close to Madison Avenue
Your area's cultural and historical landmarks
A short walk from Museum Mile on Fifth Avenue
Local walks
Central Park, East River Promenade
Top day trips
Take the Long Island Railroad to the beaches of the Hamptons or the North Fork of Long Island.
