Our home

My house is a charming little Tudor cottage built in the 1930s in an upscale suburban setting. It is a 10 minute walk to the commuter train depot taking you directly into the middle of Manhattan in 26 minutes. It runs every hour on the weekend and more often during the week. Completely restored, the house has a beautiful stone fireplace, arched doorways, original brass and crystal sconces, lots of leather furniture, woven rugs over hardwood floors and a brand new gourmet kitchen with granite counter tops. There is a pretty little flagstone patio in back and a front porch where the sun shines all day long. It has a warm and cozy feel, perfect for putting your feet up after many miles of sightseeing in New York City.

Who we are

  1. My name is Patricia and I am very excited about the idea of staying in La Jolla, California where my Daughter, son in law and 4 year old grandson are living. My son in law is a professor at University of California San Diego and my daughter is an attorney. I'm also looking for an exchange in Atlanta, Georgia where my son, daughter in law and 2 grandchildren live. My son is also an Attorney and his wife is the Director of Fund Raising at Emory University. I would also love to have some month long stays in some of the beautiful cities of Europe. As a single parent of adult children and a recently retired Art Director of 25 years for McGraw-Hill Publishing Company in New York there was not much free time until now. My father and grandfather were architects and I was fortunate to have gotten my degrees in art and design. I have had many love affairs with the buildings of New York but am so very eager now to view the original work of the great European masters. At 67, I can think of no better way to spend the next decade. I also love the idea of exchanging homes....it relieves the burden of where to begin and opens the door to many serendipitous adventures. I often travel alone but also with my daughter and sometimes with my son and his wife and have also taken many trips with old and dear friends. For longer extended stays, I would be traveling alone. If I can be of any help in your travel arrangements, please let me know. Wishing you all the best.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Millburn is a much sought after suburban town, built in the 1800s, designed as a country getaway for Wall Street folks. It was built with an appreciation of history, displaying many plaques designating spots where George Washington led his troops in 1776. The downtown area is a 10 minute walk from the house and has many charming gourmet restaurants as well as local sandwich shops. There is a first run movie theater and plenty of interesting clothes, gift and craft stores. On your days off from galavanting in New York City there is plenty to do in the nearby areas. The well known Short Hills Mall is a 12 minute drive where you can shop in the same designer stores that line New York's fashionable Fifth Avenue. The Atlantic Ocean is less than an hour away offering the beach and surf while you appreciate the local Victorian architecture. Atlantic City, with it's huge gambling casinos and miles of ocean boardwalks, is a 3 hour drive. There are ski resorts within 2 hours and hundreds of parks and lakes and rivers throughout the area. There are also many golf courses open to the public, the best of which can be reached in 15 minutes. The house would be a perfect home base to visit many of the beautiful sights and fun attractions New York and the New York metropolitan area offers. It is located a quick 15 minute drive from Newark International Airport.
