Our home

We have a two bedroom home on Clear Lake. Several decks. A stone wall leads out onto the lake and dock. Great fish habitat right by the dock--this is a bass lake. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Home has an office available for the guests--fax, high speed internet, computer. Satellite television. DVD player. Stereo for CDs, radio. Satellite radio. There is no dishwasher, however. And the house is for the hearty and healthy--you park up on the street, and walk down a 400' path, complete with several sets of steps, to get down to the house at the lakeside. Give us your food preferences and we will get groceries carried down the hill for you before your arrival; we will try to get a young person with stamina to help you unload your bags down the hill and bring them back up when you leave. We may be willing to have you use our car. Parts of the home were built in the 1930's, everything butu the kitchen has been remodelled within the last year. No carpets--we have alleries--bamboo laminate flooring, oak parquet, hardwood floors. We have 2 cats. There is a yard for sunbathing. A covered deck overlooks the lake. The master suite has an outdoor hot tub on the deck--great for stargazing.

Property features

Who we are

  1. We are a married couple. Norm has two sons in their twenties--one attends Univ. of Edinburgh, so we'd like to visit Scotland. Norm is retired and writing a mystery novel. Mary is a self-employed mortgage broker who works primarily out of the house. We read a lot--there are many bookshelves throughout the house--all stuffed full--and we are avid watchers of BookTV on the weekends (interviews with authors). Mary bicycles a few times a week 15-20 miles at a time. We have 2 cats. We have a second home (a condo) outside of Portland, Oregon--that would be available as an alternate exchange if the exchangers prefer that. Because of the availability of the second home, we are flexible on the dates of your visit--we can easily leave to our other house if we aren't at yours. We haven't exchanged before.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Our home is in Lower Lake--a small town of 1,000. There are several museums and golf courses nearby. Three gambling casinos within 45 minutes. There are several small wineries within 30 minutes. This is a retreat home: there is a small grocery store 5 minutes away, but most stores are almost 20 minutes away. It is almost an hour to get to the north part of the Napa Valley, 90 minutes to the Sonoma wine country, 2 hours to the Sonoma Coast, 2-1/2 hours to San Francisco, Oakland or Sacramento. If you are here in the summers, you will see sailboats, bass fishing boats, jet skis, and a lot of activity on the lake. There is excellent mountain biking 30 minutes away.
