Who we are

  1. I am Keith, a mostly retired, non-smoking medical school professor (physiology and epidemiology), who ejoys international travel, particularly to areas of the world I haven't seen before. I enjoy hiking and quiet activities (reading, especially classics, crossword puzzles, sudoku, old movies) more than night life and am constitutionally unable to walk past a museum without entering. While I haven't had a home exchange yet, I did a very successful house sit for a couple in Berkeley, California, when I did a sabbatical there. I particularly enjoy University towns and would, if possible, like to arrange some kind of scholarly exchange with a local university or medical/veterinary/nursing/public health school during a home swap. Having spent my youth on a farm, I am comfortable with animal and plant care. As a long-time home and pet owner (Dalmation, Cairn Terrier, mutts) I know how important your home and pets are to you.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Ellicott City is a quiet, established, exclusive residential suburb close to all the excitement and opportunity that the Boston-New York-Philadelphia-Baltimore-Washington corridor has to offer. Even in the midst of this, the famed Appalacian Trail and several renowned state and national parks are a resonable drive away with many hiking clubs offering several led hikes a week varying in distance and intensity. Because of the favorable exchange rate of the US dollar (to you, not to us), daily living expenses here are quite modest. Baltimore is a hub for Southwest Airlines which offers convenient, low-cost fares to most of the rest of the US.
