Who we are

  1. My husband and I love our home away from home. We have no children and try to spend as much time as we can here.

We are non smokers, are pro-environment, love the beach, wineries and the east end of Long Island.

We have done several home exchanges and each one has been a great experience. We treat your home as if it were our own and we expect the same from our exchangers.

Your neighbourhood

Home is located about 2 1/2 hours east of New York City in a quaint and country setting. It is a beach community during summer months and is quite quiet during winter months. The North Fork of Long Island is known for its wineries (over 40) and its farming. Excellent local fruit and vegetables can be found during spring, summer and fall. There are many farms and farm stands throughout the area.

Excellent restaurants, especailly seafood are located nearby. About 15 minutes east of home (Greenport) there is nightlife - many eateries, cafes and music, and about 20 minutes west (Riverhead) you can also find many eateries, cafes, jazz music, theatre and casino. There are many eateries, shops and cafes all across the North & South Forks.

If you're interested in shopping, there is a Tanger Mall and Outlets in town of Riverhead (about 20 minutes west of home). There are also many other stores (like Target, Michaels, Walmart...) and fast food restaurants (Taco Bell, Chipotle, Panera Bread, Starbucks...).

There is also a water theme park (Splish Splash) in Riverhead, as well as an Aquarium, the Atlantis.

There are museums, art galleries and lots of antique shops all throughout the east end of Long Island.

A five-minute drive from home is the Custer Institute, an astronomy museum, where you can do some star gazing and attend concerts. Across the street is the Indian Museum.

There is lots of boating (boats can be chartered in nearby Orient Point) kayaking, sailing and beach activities during summer months. Short ferry ride to Shelter Island from Greenport is a great day getaway. Country clubs (golfing, tennis) and fitness clubs/yoga nearby.

During spring, summer and fall, there are many flea markets, yard sales and carnivals.
