Our home

Our spacious home sits nestled into the top of a canyon with a spectacular and panoramic view of fields, farmlands, orchards and neighborhoods of the Twin Oaks Valley. On a clear day you can enjoy spectacular sunsets over the ocean in the distance. It is ideal for entertaining and relaxing with an open floorplan, modern kitchen, BBQ, pool, jacuzzi, trampoline and basketball options. Beautiful walks or bike rides begin at our driveway down a winding private road with trees, horses and natural canyon chaparral. Wildlife sightings from the patio include hawks and coyotes.

Who we are

  1. Greg and Elizabeth - we are in our mid-late forties with two girls (10 and 12 years old), and one college age son (19). We are both professionals (chef and attorney) who would love to begin travelling and creating shared unique experiences in foreign countries as a family. We have done a house exchange once before (in the US), and are excited at the prospect of travelling to beautiful and interesting parts of the world we have not yet experienced. We would prefer to plan our exchange well in advance and to correspond via e-mail with our exchange family to exchange information that will make each families' travel experience informed and enjoyable.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Homes in our neighborhood are surrounded with land, natural canyon, orchards, fields and farmland. Some neighbors have horses, dogs and donkeys. You will hear the roosters in the mornings. To the south our rural area quickly becomes suburban, with walking and horse paths surrounding neighborhoods and an 18-hole public golf course. A short bicycle ride will get you to local fruit and vegetable stands, further on you will reach the local parks, restaurants, coffee shops, theatres, and shopping centers. Directly west, we are 15 miles from the beach community of Carlsbad with attractions such as Legoland, the Gemological Institute of America, restaurants and beach shops in Carlsbad Village, and of course, the beach for swimming and surfing. We are 30 minutes north of downtown San Diego boasting the world famous San Diego Zoo and Sea World. We are also 30 minutes northeast of the beautiful beach communities La Jolla and Del Mar and hiking and golfing in Torrey Pines. A two-hour drive to the north or northeast will bring you to Los Angeles or Palm Springs.
