Our home

We have tickets to Barcelona already but nowhere to stay. Our home is available Aug 7-14th. A cottage in Pennsylvania Dutch country can be available from August 15th for at least several days. Or we can host you a our home some other time at your convenience. Our turn of the century home, on a quiet NYC block, has a wrap around front porch, stone fireplace, oak floors/doors and many antiques, but it is still quite comfortable and homey. Our rooms are large and airy. A housekeeper will come in before you arrive and right after you leave to help make the holiday less of a chore when you need to go home. We have many unusual NYC guidebooks and always leave current info for guests including discounts to Broadway shows and addresses of our favorite restaurants.

Who we are

  1. My husband and I are in our 50's and enjoy theatre, traveling and doing volunteer work. We have a 19 year old son and two lovely daughters ages 15 and 17. The children are well traveled and are polite and well behaved. We have done many exchanges since the youngest turned 5 and they are well aware of appropriate behavior in someone else's home. We are not child proof but certainly child friendly. References available.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Brooklyn is a destination all its own and our neighborhood has been recently discovered by young businessmen and their families who cannot believe there are such large and stately homes with a suburban feel so close to everything! We are a five minute walk to an express subway train, small shops for necessities and food shopping. A fifteen minute walk takes you to Cortelyou Road with many fine restaurants, large health food store, farmers market, interesting bars/music, and so on. The ride to downtown Manhattan is less than 30 minutes and in the other direction on the same subway line is Brighton Beach (Little Odessa), Coney Island, Sheepshead Bay and the Aquarium.
