“Rob and Jill's small apartment in their 19th century brownstone in South Boston is comfortable and convenient to public transportation's buses and the T that get you to downtown Boston tourist sites in 45 minutes. We loved exploring the "Southie" neighborhood including the beaches and the JFK library that was a 2.5 mile walk from their home.”

Our home
This is our residence in Boston. The house has been in the family for some 100 years, built in 1868 and represents a classic Boston Brownstone. It is located in the now fast rising So Boston area, east of Central City. Area has all amenities with public transportation almost at your door. For seniors, you can obtain a pass on the "T" for $1.00 for a trip to "downtown".
If you have a car, you have immediate access to the Airport, to the highway north to New Hampshire, Maine, Canada (Quebec), or to Cape Cod or down to New York City. Travel into the city is simple and quick.
If you like to walk, the city beach is 4 city blocks to the east or south (we are on a peninsula), with walks of up to 4 miles, taking you to President John F Kennedy/Edward M Kennedy Libraries on the ocean.
This bi level apartment has all the basic amenities of a city apartment, historically correct yet comfortable. This block of brownstones represents one of the best units of brownstones in the city. A park fronts the house; cruise ships dock in the near distance. There is a good size garden in the rear of the house.
Good times for exchange can be June-October when you bring your child to college in Boston, or early spring. Or combine with our house in the West Indies available at any time.

Who we are
-
We are original residents of the area, family stretching back to the mid 1830's. We have traveled for the last thirty years, and worked in international health and education on four continents. We like interesting people who have a keen intellect and appreciate travel, food, architecture, skiing and tennis. We are looking for exchanges that take us to familiar Euro sites or new adventures. Our times are flexible.
We can combine this house with one/ two destinations for you in Trinidad (think Carnival) or the Grenadines (think sailing). See our Trinidad house here, separate listing.

Where is it?
Your neighbourhood
This swap is in the historical So Boston area, the fastest rising area in the city and one of the fastest in the country, popular with new college graduates and young adults returning from the suburbs. It is close to all areas of the city and Cambridge, with instant access to the T system and the interstate highways. There are several yuppie bars, while good restaurants are about a mile away. The center city is some three miles; Cambridge is some 15 minutes by car or 40 minutes by 'T'(Harvard, MIT, etc.)
We have several parks and walking on the ocean is four streets away--5 minutes. Walking into the city is easy if you like it. While our house is the classic brownstone, side streets represent classic wood houses from the 1890's, many renovated into modern apartments for new graduates, and there are many new international-style apartment buildings being done as we write.
