Our home

My wife and I live here with our three children (two daughters, ages 9 and 4 and our 7 year old son). I teach at a local liberal arts college, and my wife homeschools our children.

The house is over 125 years old. I completely renovated it over the past 3 years. It has hardwood floors througout. There are two and a half baths. You can see the Missouri River from one of our bedroom windows (though not much of it, to be sure). It has all the modern conveniences. King size bed in one room, full size in a second, and three twin size beds in the other rooms. Internet is available. Possible car exchange as well. House has central AC, free long distance phones to US and Canada, and you can use our bicylces. Beautiful kitchen has been fully remodeled two years ago. Evenings are very pleasant here during the summer.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Kansas City, MO is just 30 minutes away, with all the amenities of a large city. The airport is also just 30 minutes away. We live in Atchison, which is North of KC on the Missouri River and was once a famous railroad town. The town now has about 15,000 people in it, a small college and two monastic communities. It is small and quiet. It would be a perfect place to get a way and spend a quiet vacation.
