Our home

People have said, "Your house feels like a tree house." Ashland is a charming town that names a "tree of the year" annually, and some very large trees are just outside our house, which is on a hillside with a view of the valley and Grizzly Peak. We often view sunrises or rainbows from our living room, dining room, kitchen or deck. Our home is comfortable, only seven years old, with carpeting throughout, an attached garage, and grassy yard on the side and back. We use one of our three bedrooms for an office (in addition to another office adjacent to it).

Who we are

  1. We are in our sixties, virtually retired, although Sarah (a nurse/educator) still teaches in the nursing program at Southern Oregon University and Jack (a teacher/writer) published his first novel recently. Our children are grown, and we have three grandchildren. We enjoy golf and hiking, theater and occasionally dining out. We have traveled extensively (Turkey, Brazil, Russia, Spain, UK, Germany, Switzerland, Africa), as Peace Corps volunteers in our twenties, and as educators and activists more recently.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We are on a small street with little traffic, many trees, within easy walking distance to Southern Oregon University or the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland's quaint downtown. Many recreational activities are available, including river rafting, hiking, golf, tennis, skiing. California's majestic Mt. Shasta is less than eighty minutes away. Ashland has been recognized in national publications as one of America's most livable towns.
