Our home

Our newly refurbished apartment is our second home but is newly furnished with modern light oak furniture and fresh linen to make it as near to our home from home as is possible.
There are two double bedrooms, a fully fitted kitchen with all new appliamces.
There is a tv with freeview channels and a DVD player. There is a CD player and lots of CDs to suit all tastes. The sitting room boasts shelves stacked with books for any free moments you may have, although this is unlikely as there is so much going on in this beautiful city that you'll scarcely have a moment to spare.
The apartment boasts stunning views of the river Ouse and one of Yorks most ancient public houses, from the sitting room and bedroom windows.
Whilst in the centre of this historic city the apartment is very peaceful and only a short walk to all local amenities and tourist attractions.

Who we are

  1. We are two early retired professional people, one a teacher the other an optician. We are musicians and lovers of the arts and arcitecture and history, hence our love of the city of York. Our main home is in Cumbria and we also have a house in France. We love to travel and are used to swapping our homes with friends in different parts of the country. The next stage seems to be the opportunity of exchanging with other people in other parts of the world. We would particulrly welcome the opportunity to visit the USA this year.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Our apartment is close to one of the cities famous bridges with walks and cycleways along the river from the front door. We have two cycles for your use if you should feel the urge to explore the many cycleways surrounding the apartment. Within minutes you can walk to all of York's tourist attractions, the medieval city walls, the many museums and galleries and of course the Viking museum and Railway museum.
It is possible to be in London, by train, within 2 hours. Edinburgh can be reached by train in an hour and a half.
The stunning Yorkshire coast with its white chalk cliffs and bird sanctuaries are within an hours drive.
The Yorkshire Dales, for walking enthusiasts and lovers of stunning scenery, are within an hours drive away too. Castle Howard, where Brideshead Revisited was filmed, is a short bus journey away.
The beautiful spa town of Harrogate can be reached by train in under an hour.
The apartment is a short walk from the city's railway station. Unfortunately we do not have parking for the apartment but directions can be given to free off street parking if a car is felt to be necessary.
