Our home

Our home was originally built in the 18th century as a farm worker’s cottage. It has been extended and modernized several times (most recently in 2011) & comprises.
On the Ground Floor: Sitting Room with beamed ceiling , Dining Hall, Study with Cloakroom, Kitchen leading on to a Garden Room, Garage/Workshop.

Table tennis table in garage.
Kitchen & Washing: Stove with 5 gas rings and 2 electric ovens, grill. Microwave, Dishwasher, Washing Machine, Tumble Drier, 3 Fridge/Freezers.
Outside: Front garden with water feature and seats. Rear garden with seating & terrace. Generous parking

Who we are

  1. Ann & Bob are retired. We have also lived in Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong & Spain during our working life and have enjoyed very successful exchanges to USA, Australia ,New Zealand , Copenhagen & France. Our exchangers found Winterbourne Monkton a good base for touring both the UK and Europe.

Winterbourne Monkton is a friendly hamlet of 150 inhabitants set deep in the Wiltshire farming countryside. From our back gate you can walk for miles through an area steeped in history. Winterbourne Monkton is 1 mile from the World Heritage site at Avebury, where we have a community shop and a pub. There are four other pubs within 10 minutes' drive. Marlborough, a very attractive market town, with an abundance of restaurants & shops, is 7 miles away and Bath, Bristol, Cardiff, Oxford, Stonehenge, Windsor and the Cotswolds are all easily reached. The M4 Motorway is 9 miles away. London’s Heathrow Airport, Gatwick Airport, Southampton Airport, Bristol Airport, Portsmouth & Southampton ports are 1 ½ to 2 hours drive.
