Our home

Our home is a modern bungalow on a quiet estate in the pretty Cotswold village of Wickhamford. It is well decorated, and we have added a conservatory and ensuite in the past year. There are two double bedrooms (one with ensuite) a family bathroom, a lounge, kitchen and a conservatory/ dining room. We have a garden with a small pond, lawn, flower beds and sitting area. The garden is very private. At the front of the bungalow is a long drive which can accomodate several cars, and there is also a garage. We have quiet but helpful neighbours.

We also have a very nice one bedroom apartment in a quiet corner of Los Gigantes, Tenerife which could also be considered for exchange if it is available. It has recently been refurbished and has a small patio and private garden off the bedroom, and a larger patio at the front ideal for sitting with a glass of wine, watching the sun go down over the sea and the neighbouring island of La Gomera.

Who we are

  1. I am a retired Deputy Headteacher, and my husband has also retired from his carpet and upholstery cleaning business. We love to travel and see different parts of the world, and some of our favourite places are Washington State in the USA, where I taught on exchange for a year, Canada, Hawaii, New Zealand, and Alaska. We have an apartment in Los Gigantes, Tenerife (one of the Canary Islands) which we like to spend time in during the UK winter.

We both play a lot of tennis, and enjoy walking. We like cycling and have two bikes which you could borrow. I also enjoy gardening and photography, while John enjoys fishing and his car.

In 2010 we did 4 very successful exchanges within New Zealand, in 2012 we did 4 exchanges within western USA, one in France in 2013, 3 in Australia in 2016, and 3 fabulous swaps in Canada in 2017. We really enjoyed them all and are keen to exchange again. We would recommend exchanging to anyone thinking about it - it is a great way to meet new people and explore a new locality.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We are in a small village in a beautiful part of the country, ideally situated for exploring the surrounding countryside and Cotswold villages. Broadway, one of the most well known, is only 2 miles away, Stratford upon Avon is approximately 10 miles, as are Worcester and Cheltenham. Birmingham and Oxford are both about an hour by car. There is a good train service into London, which takes less than 2 hours. Locally, there are plenty of lovely walks to do, including the Malvern Hills and the Cotswold Way. There are lots of good places to eat, pubs and cafes in any of the local towns, and many historic homes to visit including Ragley Hall, Coughton Court and Warwick Castle. Our nearest international airport is Birmingham, which takes about 45 minutes by car.

If you would prefer to go to our apartment in Tenerife there is plenty to do there and great weather no matter what time of year you go. There is a tennis club nearby, a bowls club and swimming pools in the village, local beaches and lots of great places to eat. There are fantastic walks in the mountains and lots to see and do, including boat trips to see the dolphins, Siam Park (water theme park), Loro Parque (zoo with a difference) Las Americas if you like the night life, and the fabulous Mount Teide volcano.
