Our home

My three-bedroomed house is good for a family with two or three children, or fewer than 5 people. It has three bedrooms, bathroom and toilet upstairs. It is not a large house (about 90 square metres) but comfortable for 4 or 5 people. It is in a quiet part of town. The house is about 50 years old. The garden faces south so the house is light and you get sunshine all day in the garden in the summer.

Who we are

  1. I am a SENCO in an English secondary school. I am 56 years old. I am divorced. I have three children, who stay with me often. I taught English as a foreign language for 20 years, so I enjoy meeting and working with people from all over the world.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Welwyn Garden City is a pretty town with great shopping and river walks nearby. It also has two theatres and a cinema. My house is 15 minutes walk from the station. From there, you can get to the centre of London in 25 minutes.

Additionally, it takes less than 5 minutes to get on to the A1(M) motorway, so you can drive to visit other parts of the country really quickly. For example, Cambridge in about 50 minutes, Oxford in about 1 hour 10 minutes.

There are lots of cycle paths - for example, if you have the energy, you can cycle along a disused railway line to Hertford, which is also a very nice town.

Shopping facilities in the town are good. There is a John Lewis, Waitrose, Sainsbury's, Debenhams and the Howard Shopping Centre

Nearby places of interest are (approximate distances given) - Welwyn Roman Baths (1.5 km), Knebworth House (8 km), George Bernard Shaw's House (7 km), Hatfield House (13 km), St Albans Cathedral (20 km), Gardens of the Rose (16 km), Harry Potter World (Watford) (28 km)
