Our home

We have recently moved into our gorgeous village house. The house itself dates from the 1750's and has recently been fully refurbished by the previous owners. It was being run as a high end bed and breakfast. Highlights for us include the very large family kitchen with gas range and kitchen dining table and the light and airy breakfast room. The two double rooms which were used for letting are both ensuite and tastefully decorated and furnished. Our two small boys share a small room (cot and cotbed). The fourth bedroom is used by us as an office but has a very comfortable double sofa bed in it (and see below for the annex).

The pretty cottage style garden is large enough to exercise children or dogs and is completely enclosed. At the bottom of the garden there is a secure garage with plenty of room to store sports equipment including bikes.

We have a self contained annex with kitchen and ensuite. With enough warning we are happy to include this in the exchange - perfect for friends or family members who might like to be a bit independent. At other times it may be occupied by paying guests, but with their own front door and access through the garden they are unlikely to affect your stay.

More photos will be coming shortly.

Who we are

  1. Our names are John and Rachel. John manages a property business from home and looks after the boys whilst Rachel is a consultant in the local Emergency Department. We have two little boys - aged 6 months and 2 so our house is perfectly suited to those with a younger family. We particularly enjoy our sports and outdoor pursuits. We are keen to have some fun holidays and show our boys different parts of the UK and the world. Weekends and longer holidays would both work well for us.

We live in a fabulous house in a stunning part of England and we are sure you will have a lovely holiday here.

Your neighbourhood

Bere Regis is a medium sized Dorset village with a number of very charming houses. The village has 2 pubs, a very well stocked village shop, a petrol station and a post office. We are equidistance from the historical market towns of Blandford and Dorchester (11 miles) and close to the larger towns of Poole and Bournemouth (15 miles). Wareham station (6 miles) has 2 trains an hour to London and Dorchester station has trains to the historical Roman town of Bath (2 hours).

The nearby Jurassic Coast is a world heritage site with spectacular cliffs, beaches and good fossil hunting! During the height of summer this part of Dorset is popular with tourists and so there are plenty of activities and attractions available. Activities include watersports, horse riding, diving, golf, road and cross country cycling. Places to visit include Monkey World, Thomas Hardy's cottage, the Tank Museum, Kingston Lacey country house, Corfe Castle and many, many more.
