Our home

My 400 year old quintessentially English cottage, complete with lovely south facing gardens will be available for up to 3 months . It has two bedrooms and is beautifully furnished with mostly antiques. It has many charming features, including low beams and large fireplace and is very cosy in the winter, having new central heating. It would be ideal for those grandparents wishing to spend time with their families living over here.
Malt Cottage is part of an old brewery. Going back to the early 1700's. (It has no ghosts!)
There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms plus shower room, and so is ideal for couples but not families.
The house is always tidy and clean and everything in it is in good working order.
It has a lovely sitting room with open fire for the winter evenings and a sunny conservatory letting lots of light into the main part of the house. You would be very comfortable during our long winter evenings!
There is a separate laundry with its own shower and toilet, downstairs.
The main bedroom has a kingsize bed and the second bedroom has a Queen size bed.

Who we are

  1. My name is Jane and I am in my sixties, I lived in Avalon Sydney for over 20 years. Being English my husband and myself migrated back to the UK my husband died in 1998, he was a well loved doctor in Avalon on the northern beaches of Sydney. Because of my love for the area I kept my house is Sydney over the years,(which is presently let out to very good tenants).
In the past, I have gone back to Sydney every year to my house there, in Clareville. This year, I do not want to turf my tenants out, so this is why I am looking for alternate accommodation, just to get my yearly injection of the lovely sunshine in Sydney! My dates are fairly flexible, although obviously I would prefer to go back in the English winter!

Your neighbourhood

As Malt Cottage is part of the village brewery it is attached to Brewers Cottage and The Malt House. I have lovely quiet thoughtful neighbors on both sides. The Old Brewery is in the ancient end of a lovely village which has a village store, a post office, a hairdresser, an estate agent and a laundry. The village also has a lovely pub/restaurant which is open every day. Also of course there is a Norman church in the village. I am about 15 minutes drive down the A27 from Chichester, and about 10 minutes drive to the medieval town of Arundel. Both of these places have a variety of lovely shops, and supermarkets and fine restaurants which are only 10 minutes away by car.
There is a golf club in the village and also a health spa.
I am close to the south downs where there is wonderful walking. It is an hour and a quarter to London by train, and 10 minutes from the (pebbly!) beaches of the English channel.
