Our house is brand new with all modern furnishings, including some slate and wood floors. It has been designed to take full advantage of the wonderful views. We have a lounge upstairs with a cathedral ceiling, a double height hall, an upstairs master suite with a balcony and dressing room. There is a detached double garage with electric doors.
We also have a one bedroomed annex, behind and above the garage. This is available for none simultaneous exchange.
We are very early retired head teachers who have travelled the world, done several house exchanges and housesits. We have recently moved to the Isle of Wight and just completed a self build house. The island is definitely the most beautiful part of the UK, with a very mild climate. We are open to all offers but with long distance travel we would not wish to exchange for less than a month, and would prefer longer. We are very house proud and would look after your house as we look after our own. We are now already booked to exchange in the USA in the summer of 2008 but are looking for something for January, February,or March 2008, and late in that year or in 2009. We also have a small annex accomodation behind and above our garage, with a double bedroom with shower room off on the ground floor, and a large living room and kitchen above.
Our house is on the south side of the Isle of Wight, which has become very popular for second homes for people from London and the south east. We are south facing and overlook the sea and the Botanical Gardens in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, as opposed to the more traditional small seaside towns of the north of the island which are still little changed from 50 years ago. We are less than a mile from the small Victorian seaside town so loved by Queen Victoria. There is a small wood at the end of our drive that leads to various coastal paths, where you can walk for miles without seeing another person, only birds, butterflys and wild ponies. A five minute walk away is the famous Botanic Gardens, which are free to enter. In Ventnor are all the shops you could want, including a supermarket. We have many top restaurants, cafes and a theatre. Throughout the year we have a walking festival, a jazz festival, several carnivals with fireworks. Of course the island is world famous as the centre of the sailing fraternity, with Cowes Week, Round the island Race, and national power boat racing.
