“This historic hall was built by Samual Hill a silk mill/factory entrepreneur in 1700s, built as a family home. Its elegance is still evident on the outside but now is divided into seven apartments with modern conveniences. The couple who own it were as gracious as the house itself, making us most welcome. The secret to good home exchange is regular communications, email, skype etc, and we all did this prior to our exchange this year resulting in warm relationship and understanding about how to meet the need of each exchanger. This village situated in deep valley has the background of the industrial area in the fairly recent past but has kept its former history with the Old Mill pub dating back to the 1300 situated next to the river with the old church and the mill under the humped bridge. The surrounding extensive farmland and moors not so far away makes it a great base for walking especially for finding the pubs on the far hills just serving Sunday roasts etc. Wonderful stay.
