Property features

Who we are

  1. My wife and I are in our early sixties and non smokers. I am a retired airline training captain but still do the odd bit of training from time to time.

We both enjoy tennis, golf and walking.

We are looking for an exchange in the Manly area of New South Wales between early December and late March every year. If the whole period is not available then anything from a few weeks to 4 months. We have a daugther and her son that live in Allambie Heights so we would like to stay somewhere close.

We would also like to do a short term exchange sometime between December and March in Tasmania and New Zealand, preferably South Island.

As the cottage is our second home the exchange does not have to be at the same time.

If the dates do not match we could consider a short let.

Your neighbourhood

Hawkesbury Upton is a typical quiet historic old english village on the edge of the Cotswolds. There are 2 pubs in the village, both serving food, one very close and a village shop and post office. Just behind the cottage is the tennis club with 2 hard courts and just beyond that the cricket ground. About a 200 metre walk from the cricket ground you will come across the Cotswold Way with views from the top of the Cotswolds over the river severn and Wales beyond. Just over the road is the village hall and football ground.

It is a favoured area for walkers with many interesting walks. Westonbirt Arboritum with it's magnificent trees just 10 minutes away and just beyond that Highgrove, Princes Charles's country residence. Historic Tetbury just 20 minutes away and in the other direction, Bath 25 minutes.

There are numerous golf courses in the area ranging from cheap 9 hole courses to 18 hole championship ones. Also numerous country pubs and resaurants, some serving exceptionally good quality food at very reasonable prices.

For those looking for the night life there are theatres in Bath and Bristol, 30 minute drive. There are several night clubs in Bristol.
