Our home

Our home is a recently updated 1830 country house with spacious accommadation that still retains its country charm. We have a fully equipped modern kitchen with large range cooker, centre island and large double opening doors that lead out onto the patio and garden beyond. Adjoining the kitchen is the dining room that also has a seating area infront of the large log burner fire place and front door that leeds to the front patio and garden. Leading through to the main living room which has opening doors to the same patio as the kitchen. Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms the master with en-suit shower and a family bathroom with double ended bath. The master has a King size bed and the 2nd bedroom has 2 x 3' singles that zip together to make another King. Bedroom three is the smallest but has the best far reaching country views and a standard double bed. The fourth bedroom is on the lower level next to the third bathroom which is a wet room. This adjoins the kitchen via a small vestibule area and has opening doors to the rear garden. The whole house is in excellent condition and is set in a lovely garden which comes complete with gardener. There is also a double garage thats full of junk.

Who we are

  1. Sean and I have lived here for 13 years. We are both in our Fifties and have enjoyed extensive travel. Sean is an Airline pilot who through his work is able to work from any country with a nearby airport. All our 4 children have left home though we do have grand children and one son and daughter that live close buy. My passion is gardening where as Sean prefers sailing.

Located in a small hamlit at the foot of the Blackdown hills with a couple of dozen houses a church and pub, up a single track country road you would think you were in the middle of nowhere. But in fact Taunton, county town of Somerset is only 10 mins drive away. Bristol, Bath Wells and Exeter are all within 45 mins drive and Taunton has hourly high speed trains to London (2hrs). The west country can be easily accessed by train or car with Dartmouth, Torque, Salcombe and lyme Regis within an easy day or half day trip distance. The North coast Exmore and the Quantocks are also within easy reach for hiking riding or just sightseeing. Other attractions are Stone Henge, Wooky hole, Cheddar Caves, Glastonbury Tour and numerous historic towns and buildings. You may just decide to stay put and enjoy the peace of the country and walk from the front door onto the black downs which has miles of public foot paths and breathtaking scenery or put your feet up infront of the fire.
