Our home

We have a large 4 bedroom house in Stoke Newington. The house is from Victorian times with many original features. It is warm in winter and remains cool in summer. There is ample living space, with two large sofas in the living room adjoining a dining room with table and piano. There is a brand new spacious, bright kitchen extension with all amenities and a large table. Double doors lead on to a 50ft secluded garden which is very quiet considering this is an urban area.
The first floor has a large bathroom with shower over the bath. A nursery with heaps of toys is next to the main double bedroom with a 6ft 5" wide bed and plenty of space/storage. The large windows overlook Stoke Newington common and there is a computer area in this room.
The second floor has a double bedroom next to a large room with two single beds (and sofa bed/Put-up bed for 3 extra kids).WE HAVE ARRANGED A SWAP FOR 2008,AND CAN'T DO ANOTHER ONE.PLEASE THINK OF US FOR 2009.

Who we are

  1. We are a happy family of five. I am 43 and a lawyer in the city, my partner Jon is a househusband/sculptor who is also 43. Our kids are aged 10, 8 and 4 and they go to school locally and enjoy the many local facilities for children.
We have been very happy in our house which we brought 12 years ago and there would be neighbours and family in the area to give support if you had any problems.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

The house is situated 5 mins from the lively and cosmopolitan main street full of restaurants, unusual shops and live music venues. Stoke Newington has been historically an area known for artists but is becoming more upmarket.
Although an urban area there is the Common outside the door (and in the distance a busy road that you get used to) and there is the much larger green space at Clissold park with tennis, deer and cafe, beautiful churches.
Transport links to the centre of London are good. There are buses that run just 100 yards from the house to:
Islington (15mins)
St.Pauls (25 mins)
Covent garden (35mins)
Oxford Street (45 mins)
There are also good train links from the station that is also 5 mins away so you can be in Tate Modern in 30 mins door to door.
