The bottom half of an Edwardian House (built1890's) Elegantly furnished with large rooms, high ceilings and period details. Large lounge with open fire,dining area overlooking garden and central heating. Two large bedrooms with super kingsize beds, can be split to twins, and ample wardrobe space. Main bedroom ensuite bathroom with bath and separate shower enclosure. Second bedroom with ensuite wet room. WE ALSO HAVE A BASEMENT BEDROOM WITH ENSUITE SHOWER ROOM WHICH CAN BE OFFERED IF A THREE BEDROOM SWAP IS AVAILABLE. WE USUALLY USE THIS FOR STORAGE DURING A SWAP.
A separate dining area with television and a galley kitchen fitted with double door fridge/freezer with ice making facility, dishwasher, oven, microwave and waste disposal. Alcove with washing machine and drier.. Satellite TV, high speed Internet, DVD recorder. Security Alarm. Large garden and parking. A cleaner can be organised if desired also a car swap.

Who we are

  1. Retired couple both originally from Scotland.
    We have two children - a daughter (a theatre designer) who sometimes travels with us to Australia and a son, daughter-in-law and two grandsons who live in Gerringong NSW.
    We are well travelled and have had many trips to Australia especially Sydney to see family.
    We would like an exchange of at least a month because of the distance involved and are happy to exchange at any time of year.

  2. Margaret is a church elder and is involved with many local charities. Ken is a retired magistrate and worked for many years in the hospitality business.

  3. We are both active gym members, play tennis and also visit London frequently for the theatre and galleries.

The flat is located on a quiet private road 10 minutes walk from St Albans City Centre. The flat is 10 minutes walk from St Albans Station enjoying frequent (every 10 to 15 minutes) fast train service to London (St Pancras) good tube connections and links to Eurostar to Paris and Brussels.

St Albans is a historic City - it was the Roman capital of Britain, with a museum and Roman remains. It has a twice weekly street market, farmers market in season and Christmas market. There are interesting shops, local theatre and cinema within a 10 minute walk. St Albans Abbey dates back to the 13th Century and is probably one of the more famous cathedrals in the UK. The town centre contains some interesting historic buildings as well as modern coffee shops and restaurants and a wide range of retail stores.
