Our home

Our home is a seven bedroom 230-year old house situated in a one acre garden in the village of Somerton.
We look over farmland but we are around the corner from the village - 5 min flat walk, with shops and 3 pubs, small supermarket, Dr's surgery, Library, post office, church and all the amenities just a few minutes walk away.
Our home is very old so some of the floorboards squeak, some of the floors are uneven -200 year old beautiful natural floor boards in the kitchen - loads of character! The house is very welcoming and spacious with large light rooms, lots of big windows, so it's a very light and cheerful house.
There's a piano you are welcome to play, and a huge trampoline, a climbing rope, and swings etc in the garden for children. We have high speed broadband and several TV's in the house, but our elder daughter tells us they are all too small.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We live at the end of a short cul de sac so it is very peaceful and quiet. From our doorstep there are some lovely country walks, or if you feel like something a little less energetic, we also have 3 pubs within 5 minutes walk!
Somerton is a very old small town with a centre that has lots of character, filled with 18th century Georgian buildings.
As well as the pubs we have quite a few shops which between them have just about anything you could need, including a health food shop, a chemist, two butchers, antique shop, a shoe shop, dress shop - and a hardware store in case you feel like doing some DIY!
We are within easy access of many lovely National Trust properties including Lytes Cary which is a nice day out on foot from here.
The stunning Roman city of Bath is only one hour's drive away, as is Stonehenge, and in the other direction, the Jurassic Coast of Dorset.
Glastonbury is a 15 minute drive and an absolute must-see. It is a town unlike any other and a very special place.
the tiny Cathedral city of Wells is half an hour away and with its stunning 13th century Cathedral, is also a must. It has a very cobbled pretty town square with some excellent places to eat.
Further afield, the two beautiful moors, Dartmoor and Exmoor, are both good day trips from here.
And five minutes down the road there's a daily bus service at 8.10 every morning that takes you virtually non stop to central London, returning every evening. So you can spend the day at Harrods, while staying at The Mount!
