Our home

Our home is comfortable and spacious, set in a large garden with a view to the Cotswold Hills. The upper floor was refurbished in 2016 to create 2 large bedrooms, one with a double bed and ensuite bathroom and one with a super king size bed and ensuite shower room The third bedroom is on the ground floor; it has a king size bed and is adjacent to a toilet/shower room. Both the spacious kitchen and dining room have French windows opening on to the 280 ft rear garden. The sitting room has French windows leading to the front porch and smaller garden. The ground floor also comprises a study, a separate office/workroom and large utility room. The rear of the property catches the morning sun and the setting sun shines into the sitting room at the end of the day. The rear garden is landscaped near to the house with a number of silver birch trees and flower beds surrounding a patio with outdoor table and chairs. There is a pond (home to dragon flies and newts, and occasionally, a pair of ducks) and then a large expanse of grass leading to apple and pear trees. The pond is not fenced or netted so small children need to be supervised when nearby. There is plenty of room for children (and dogs) to run around and play. We often have wildlife in the garden including deer and pheasants plus many squirrels, rabbits and garden birds. There is a double garage and plenty of parking space on the gravelled drive area. The house is on a main road into Cheltenham, (a very convenient, frequent bus route to both Gloucester and Cheltenham) but set back behind a thick hedge that reduces traffic noise. Locking side gates mean that children can play safely in the rear garden with no risk of them accessing the main road.
The house contains all the usual conveniences including Sky satelliteTV, a high pressure hot water system for power showers & gas central heating, In addition to the three big beds, there is also an inflatable mattress & bedding that can accommodate 2 small children or 1 teenager in comfort. You would be welcome to borrow our 2 bikes.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Our home is located on the southern edge of the glorious Cotswold Hills with their wonderful walks and views, quaint small towns and villages. The Cotswold Way (long distance walking path) passes over the hills behind our house. We are excellently situated for discovering the west of England/ West Midlands. We are close to the M5 motorway (Jct 11A) that leads south to Somerset, Devon and Cornwall and north to Birmingham and beyond. We are approx 40mins by car from Stratford on Avon, Oxford, Bristol, Bath. In just over an hour you can be in Birmingham or Cardiff (Wales). We are 3 miles from the centre of beautiful Cheltenham (there is a bus every 10 minutes from outside our house) famous for its horse racing, including the Gold Cup in March and numerous annual festivals (Literature; Music ; Jazz ; Science; Food & Drink). There are theatres, museums, a multi-screen cinema, parks, a leisure centre, open-air pool plus many options for eating out at any time of the day. There is a recommended English language school that runs short courses for those wishing to improve their English during their stay. The city of Gloucester has a beautiful cathedral and an interesting old docks area that has been re-developed with museums, shops and cafes. London is 2 hours by train. Heathrow airport is 2 hours by coach. Our village has 2 pubs, a post office, a village green, playing field and church. Within 5 minutes of the house there is a large supermarket and a farm shop. All in all, this is an excellent area for tourism, walking & culture, with good connections to other parts of the country At the house you will find the maps and guides you need to make the most of all this beautiful area has to offer.
