Our home

This is a modern house very close to the beach - sea glimpses from the top bedroom. Contemporary decor. Set over three floors, there is a well equipped kitchen and a sitting/dining room and cloakroom on the ground floor. The first floor has the main double bedroom with en-suite shower room and another double bedroom. The top floor has a twin bedroom and a bathroom. The fourth bedroom is used as a sitting room and it has a TV and dvd player, two chaise longues and a sofabed in it. The house is not suitable for babies/children under five as there is no equipment for them, as well as the fact that there are glass topped tables and windows with no child proof locks etc.
There is a TV (with Freesat)/DVD player in the sitting room and a PC and another TV/DVD player on the top floor. The house isn't large but is spotlessly clean and decorated/furnished to a high standard. Fast Broadband connection.
The garden is small but south facing and a real sun trap. There is a table and chairs for dining outside. Parking for two cars.
As of this year we also have a beach hut for the season (until end October). This is fully equipped with deckchairs, parasols etc as well as a gas hob and kettle for tea/coffee making. It is lovely to sit right by the sea......

Property features

Who we are

  1. We are 60/63 and recently retired (ex Buying director of a major fashion retailer and an ex civil servant) after several years in semi retirement. Therefore we are very flexible about dates for travelling as well as possible locations. The house is let over school holiday time and in July/August so is not available for exchanges then. We are happy to do non simultaneous exchanges as this is a second home. As our twin girls are both at university now we plan to travel far more- probably just the two of us but occasionally with our two daughters. If you want to see more about the house in Seaton, or are interested in renting, the details are on and the property ref is E3252. We have a small well behaved dog who we would like to bring with us - and we are happy for people to bring a dog with them to our house.
We started holiday swaps in UK and as that worked well we progressed to overseas swaps and have visited Denmark and France in the last couple of years. All have gone well and we have looked after people's houses well and they have respected ours. While I have stated a few places we would like to go we are very flexible about locations - although we like to be by the sea or have access to a swimming pool if possible in summer months. We are also interested in cities and places of cultural interest, in cooler months. We just like to visit new places and explore.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

The house is next to the sea - about a 2 minute level walk if you walk slowly. The harbour and tramway centre are also a few minutes walk away. Seaton is ideally situated to visit Devon and is between Lyme Regis and Sidmouth. There are plenty of seaside places to visit with sailing and boat trips available. Beautiful countryside provides plenty of opportunity for long walks. The location appeals to children - Crealy amusement park, Bicton, Pecorama and plenty of sandy and pebbly beaches, as well as adults - Topsham, National Trust properties and the historic cathedral city of Exeter. If you like fine dining there is a Hix restaurant at Lyme Regis and the River Cafe Canteen at Axminster. Exeter airport is about 20 minutes drive, Bournemouth is also convenient. The nearest railway station is Axminster. We do not want to exchange cars, but public transport is very good in this area, with the nearest bus stop 100 yards away. You may find it useful to check out this website to find out more about the area -
