My home is the ground floor of an Edwardian semi-detached villa; No 23 Pevensey Road is set back from the road and is approached by 8 steps. The apartment has period features including an open fireplace, high ceilings with cornices and large old doors. The sitting room and main bedroom are very spacious. The kitchen has a fridge-freezer and a dishwasher, you can eat at the table in the kitchen. The bathroom is modern with an overbath shower. The second bedroom is small but cosy.
The washing machine is in the sunroom approached through the kitchen door and from here you can enter the garden down 8 Victorian cast iron steps. The garden is secluded and you can hang washing on the line across the patio beside the house. There is garden furniture and a barbecue. The end of the garden is screened by tall trees and the next buildings are sufficiently far away so that you are not overlooked when relaxing on the lawn.
I have lived in St Leonards for two and a half years and find the area very dynamic and full of charm and interest. I recently finished working in London and am now developing some projects of my own in Hastings. I enjoy having children, grandson and friends to stay. Having travelled extensively for work, my inclination is to do short distance trips, such as France and Italy.
The apartment is in a quiet setting but only a stone's throw from the shops in St Leonards and the beach. Nearby Norman Road has galleries, antique shops and cafes. The Little Larder is particularly recommended. The area has a bohemian feel with many new and quirky shops springing up. There is a high-class restaurant in St Leonards, 'St Clements' and many more in Hastings. It takes about half-an-hour to walk along the Promenade into Hastings; because the coastline faces south, this area really catches the sun. Below the Promenade, is the pebbly beach where swimming is usually safe. Red flags indicate a dangerous tide. The water quality at St Leonards has been praised this year. At low tide there is a wide stretch of beach becoming sandy as the sea retreats, and rock pools appear.
