Our home

My home is compact but comfortable! It has excellent insulation and is cool in summer and very easy to keep warm during winter. I have 3 double bedrooms, 2 with double beds and one with 2 singles. The bathroom is light and has a separate shower cubicle. There is a combination boiler, so there is always plenty of hot water. The garden faces South for maximum sunshine and is relatively easy to maintain. I have a small vegetable patch and a back gate leading to the park. I would be happy to swap cars & currently own an 8 year old A3 Audi Diesel. Although there is no entrance hall, it is a warm and welcoming home.
I live within walking distance of Charlestown Historic Harbour used for the new Poldark series!
St Austell is an old Market Town & is on the main rail route to London (5 hours). There is a ferry from Plymouth, one hour away, to Roskoff which will take you to France & beyond. Cornwall is spoilt for beaches, the main surfing beaches are on the North Coast, 30 mins away and I live only fifteen minutes away from the Eden Project.

Who we are

  1. I have been a teacher for many years and have recently retired. I have 3 grown up children. One in New Zealand; one in the Caribbean; and one in the Mediterranean. I would love to be able to spend time with them in their different homes. I enjoyed a wonderful exchange 10 years ago, swopping my job and home for a full year. It was amazing. I have been back to Oz to visit the family who swopped with me since, and they've been back here too to stay with me. It was so successful. I have done 2 shorter exchanges since on a more casual level, both of which went well.

The house backs on to a small park and is only 10 minutes walk from the historic harbour of Charlestown, where tall ships are often anchored. It is also close to many and varied attractions, including the world famous Eden Project. It is only half an hour to the beautiful surfing beaches of Newquay. It is ideally situated for supermarkets and bus and railway links to London and all over the UK. There are many gorgeous places in Cornwall & you will be spoilt for choice.
