Our home

This 3 storied terraced house right by the sea, with beautiful views over LochIndaal, (a large sea loch), is typical of a hebridean island village, with its smell of smokey peat fires and the invigorating sea air. The house has a lovely spacious kitchen diner and sitting room on first floor, with views out to sea which gives the feeling of being on a boat- It is simple, yet comfortable and spacious, easy to keep clean during holidays, with plenty of reading matter on the bookshelves Music lovers will appreciate the Bechstein grand piano in the house.

Who we are

  1. I am a musician, orignally from Great Britain, now living in Italy with my husband and 18year old daughter. We enjoy culture, travel, and new friendships, love nature, animals, and uncontaminated landscapes. As this is a second house for us, we have some flexibility in exchange

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

The house is on the shore of the small heritage village of Port Charlotte, with amenities, shop, hotel, bar, cafés, and restaurant, post office and bus service. Easy access by bicycle or car to splendid beaches, both on the atlantic and on the shores of Lochindaal. You can visit the ancient celtic crosses at Kildalton and Kilchoman, while for nature lovers there is plentiful wild life to observe from deer and wild goats to seals and otters. It is great walking country both by the sea on cliffs and beaches, and in the wild hilly countryside . Islay is famous in particular for its rich bird life, and also for its malt whiskey. You can visit several of the the nine island distilleries and get to taste the whiskey ! In summer there are plenty of activities from ceilidhs and dances to an agricultural show and sheep dog trials. There are also several festivals, including a whiskey festival and a music festival.
