Our home

Perth is ideally situated in the centre of Scotland and our family home has all you could ask for. It was built in 1884 and offers history, antiques, bags of character and great comfort while also being perfectly positioned to explore the Gateway to the Highlands, Perthshire and further afield. The house offers: - 5 bedrooms, 3 WC's, 2 bathrooms (one with turkish steam bath/power shower and the other with jacuzzi), large drawing room, TV room, toy room/games room, dining room, office (wi-fi internet access throughout the house), kitchen, larder, laundry, butler's pantry, one acre of grounds (with swing, slide, see-saw and plenty of grass) and ample safe, off street parking. The house is huge in dimensions, original Victorian features and fittings but is still family friendly and modern. My family has lived here for 70years and we have made sure the features remain while modern luxuries are included (in fact we've redecorated the whole house in the last two years)! The toy room is equipped with toys for pre-school age, and trikes and scooters are available along with a cot and highchair. For older kids there is a full size table tennis table available, video and DVD library, PC and board games. There is satellite TV, and TV's in the TV Room, kitchen and master bedroom.

Who we are

  1. I am the grand-daughter of the original owner of the house and grew up here; I am married to Pieter (a South African) and we have three children aged 6 and under. We are in our 30's and have lived in Edinburgh, in a landrover while we drove through Africa for a year, and in Cape Town running a luxury boutique guest house. Our friends laugh at how fastidious we are when it comes to cleanliness and tidiness at home - we just seem to built that way, so you can rest assured we will be sure to treat your house with as much love and respect as we treat ours! Our kids are aged 6,4 and 3 and they have grown up around antiques, ornaments and special things and they know to respect other people's belongings. We love to travel, and both visited BC over a decade ago - we would just love to come back and bring our children and explore a bit more in depth. We love welcoming poeple to our home and while it will be sad not to welcome you in person, please know our house is ready to welcome you with open arms.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We are almost in the heart of Perth, walking distance to the centre and yet only 2 minutes to the main motorways. The house is next to a bus stop, and a short walk to the town centre, restaurants, leisure pool and shops. Our street is lined with large Victorian homes such as ours and the back of the house opens on to a quiet residential terrace. Within 5mins drive you are in open countryside with Glamis Castle, Stirling Castle, Blair Atholl, Pitlochry (25mins), Edinburgh (45mins), Glasgow (1hr) and Aberdeen (1hr20mins) all within easy reach for a day trip. For golfing enthusiasts St Andrews is 45mins away, Carnoustie 30mins, Gleneagles 20mins and there are an abundance of quality local courses starting from as little as 5minutes walk away. If whiskey is your thing we have numerous distilleries close by - not to mention the many many castles, forts and stately homes to explore. Perth itself is a county town - a hub for the surrounding farm lands. Town itself is 15mins walk or an easy bus ride - and there is a wide variety of shops, restaurants, deli's, cafe's and boutiques. If you have children we have a large leisure pool, kids' library and ice rink about 5 mins away and Perth itself has many open parks with play spaces, skate board facilities, forest walks and indoor play centres.
