Our home

We have an attractive timber framed Suffolk home on 3 floors, dating from 1575, with beams to most rooms. The situation makes this a beautiful and quiet place to be. We have a large kitchen, with a blue aga, where we have most of our meals, and we enjoy cooking. There is a separate dining room to accommodate having friends around for meals. The long room is a spacious room, great for entertaining with french doors leading out onto a south facing patio. It has a large TV, and a wood-burning stove, and the separate sitting room room is comfortable, and has an open fire. We have broadband wireless internet access in the house. There is a separate utility room and downstairs toilet.
We have a large and pleasant garden with roses and shrubs, a Japanese garden and kitchen garden. There is plenty of space to relax in and have meals out in the summer. There are meadows to the back and front of the house, and stables. We have a very bird friendly environment with 4 families of swallows nesting in the summer, as well as woodpeckers, blue tits, great tits, long tailed tits, blackbirds and sparrows.
On the first floor main bedroom is accessed through a beamed study, two other bedrooms are ensuite, although the second is accessed up steep stairs. All bedrooms but one are double.

Who we are

  1. Stephen and Jenny are both doctors. We have 3 children, the youngest is at university, and the eldest is living away from home independently. We love travelling, and think this is a great way to see new and familiar places. We have done 5 swaps before, which worked well, so we have a good idea of what is involved.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Our house is situated on the edge of a lovely Suffolk village, with views of farmland in an area of outstanding natural beauty. We are about 8 miles from the beach, and 20 mins from both Southwold and Aldeburgh, both sought after seaside towns with many attractions and cultural events.
You can walk from the footpath that intersects our property to the local pub in 5 mins, which serves excellent food; and get ham and local and Spanish delicacies from the national award winning village delicatessen, or delicious meat from the renowned village butchery; and the village also has a well provisioned shop and post office and small restaurant.
