Our home

My home is a lovely unique place, in a friendly residential area, about 15 minutes walk from the centre of Oxford.
The ground floor is all open plan with oak floorboards, with a very well-equipped kitchen (I'm a keen cook!) and utility room, opening up through an archway to a large dining room (table opens up to seat 6 comfortably) and comfy lounge, with large TV (with DVD and free cable). There is an open fireplace which is lovely and cosy in the winter. This is also where my dog, Albert, spends most of his time. Ideally, he would stay during your visit, so would need his meals and nice walks by the river, but if this isn't ideal for you, I can make other arrangements for him.
I have a car which you would be able to use if you would like, but everywhere is very easy to get to, on foot, by bike, or on the bus.
There are 2 double rooms upstairs, and a single. There is wireless internet connection throughout.
The kitchen opens up to a backyard with a woodshed and BBQ. The front garden is L-shaped around the front of the house, which is a real luxury in the summer in the city!

Who we are

  1. I'm a journals editor, working nearby, though I'm also recently a qualified registered massage therapist. I am very keen on sculpture and working with clay generally, so my house has lots of one-offs in it for you to look at.
I love living here, for the best of both worlds. Oxford is a small and incredibly beautiful city, and this area of it is small and friendly, and full of lots of types of people, which means it is rarely boring.
The social scene around here is just right too. The pubs I mentioned are very special indeed, and much more cosy than any in the city centre, so you'll be spoiled for places to go if the evenings in front of the fire wear you out!
I am looking to exchange homes with somewhere warm and possibly secluded, where I can relax, do some writing, and get away, as I've had a tough couple of years. Dates and timings are flexible.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

This neighbourhood of East Oxford is fantastic, and more like a village than villages I've lived in in the past. There is a real sense of community, with a butcher, baker, grocers and a couple of brilliant pubs (which both provide acclaimed local food) right on my doorstep.
Another 3 mins walk takes you to Cowley Rd, known as the most diverse street in the country, when it comes to its establishments. There are lots of great restaurants, bars and cafes, as well as a little independent cinema, which I sometimes work in.
Only 10 mins walk away is the Thames river (known as the Isis in Oxford), which you can follow into the city or further afield, though I doubt you'll make it to London!
There are lots of things to do locally, too many to mention really. Oxford is in the Cotswolds, which is fun and never-ending to explore; London is only an hour away; Oxford is crammed full of beautiful things to see and interesting things to do, and my bike is here for you to use.
