Our home

Our home is a 200 year old farmhouse bought from Oxford University 25 years ago, updated and modernised into a family home in a semi-rural situation, but within Oxford City ringroad. A very special place, full of character, lots of stone walls, wooden beams, flagstone and wooden floors, comfortable furniture. It is fitted with all modern amenities to make a wonderful place to live and stay. The barn was incorporated to house two offices, an unusual bedroom (platform bed under the roof) and a slightly smarter sitting and dining area. A recently modernised outbuilding has a table tennis table and an ergometer.

Who we are

  1. Simon is a college bursar and businessman, and his wife Alison is a full time mother to 4 children aged 18, 15 and twin boys of 10. The eldest is away at university/ the others are all at day schools in the Oxford area. Our home is very clean and well fitted out, but we are not overly formal. There are 5 bicycles available and many board games and dvds for use.

Your neighbourhood

The village of Wolvercote sits within 3 miles of Oxford City Centre. Our house lies on the edge of Port Meadow, only moments from Oxford Canal. The bus to the centre of town goes from the stop 2 minutes from the house, and takes just 15 minutes. Oxford has every attraction as well as the University Colleges and libraries. In the village itself are several friendly pubs including the famous 'Trout'; also 2 local post offices and shops. On Sundays there is a farmer's market in the local school. From Oxford it's easy to reach London - 90 minutes by bus. The Cotswolds, Stratford on Avon, Warwick and Blenheim Palace are all within easy reach. All in all, a fabulous location.
