Our home

The house was built in the early 18th century. It’s an old brick thatched house backing into farm land with fields in an ANOB ( area of outstanding natural beauty), with fantastic walking and public footpaths. We moved here in 2015 and are slowly making improvements; it is a loved family home not a pristine ‘show home!’
Downstairs has tiled, wooden and stone floors with two large reception rooms both with woodburner, hall with piano, kitchen-dining room and utility with loo. All usual appliances (washing machine etc) Upstairs 4 bedrooms: a large double with ensuite, two smaller singles (one with bunk bed) a large room with queen size bed, and a family bath/ shower. Outside there is off road parking behind house and a large fenced/walled garden, and bicycles you can use. We also have a chunky pony (143 cm) 200 yards up lane which you can use if you’d like and are a rider, at your own risk.
** Please note we have two very friendly cats who’d like to be looked after by anyone who comes, and a quiet well behaved dog who would like to come with us.***
The village has a pub, church, playground and an excellent little grocery shop open 7 days a week.
The Dorset coast is 40 mins away with lots of lovely places to swim. This area is the birthplace of Thomas Hardy and you can visit cottage where he was born and his house in Dorchester. There is also Monkey World (sanctuary for recued monkeys) 30 mins away. Salisbury, Sherborne, Shaftesbury are main towns of interest locally , and also Bath which is a bit further away (1 hour).
