Our home

This is a 1 bedroom cottage annex in a secluded courtyard on a Victorian country estate. It is a converted saddle room with beautiful wooden bookcases and cupboards and a real log fire in the living room. The bedroom has a double bed and a cot. The property overlooks the "Old Hall" manor house on one side and the courtyard on the other. It is situated next to working stables. Friendly neighbours.

Who we are

  1. My name is Becky and I live with my recently born daughter, Celeste. I have just been awarded a doctorate in social history and although I was working in education for disadvantage teenagers, I am now on maternity leave and my next job will most likely be in academia (university). I speak Spanish and would like to introduce Celeste to the beauty of that language from a young age, so we are keen to travel to a part of the country "where the people live". I love walking and practise yoga.
I have a car for use if required.

Your neighbourhood

The cottage is situated in the peaceful village of Langham in the country of Rutland (previously Leceistershire). Langham boasts a beautiful church, whose bells can be easily heard from the property and churchyard (opposite the Old Hall). Langham has two country pubs that serve food and a post office with small convenience store. We are 2 miles from the market town of Oakham, which has a street food market twice a week.
We are very close to Rutland Water, perfect for leisurely gentle walks and bike rides. There is also a water activity centre. Nearest city Leceister (30 mins), Nottingham (45 mins) and Birmingham (1hr 15 by train from Oakham). London approx 2 hrs.
