Our home

Anne's stylish modern apartment is located in Nottingham's historic Lace Market and just a stroll from the famous Trent Bridge Cricket Ground. It has two double bedrooms each with a separate ensuite shower room and toilet. The main 'loft style' room is beautifully appointed with modern art works, stylish furniture and extensive bookcases. The flat has full WiFi superfast broadband and Sky TV facilities. There is also a HiFi system and IPod player. Parking is available if required in one of the two private owners' spaces at the rear of the building.

The apartment has stripped wooden flooring and large stylish rugs in the main areas. It is warm and very light as the large Georgian windows allow sunlight to stream through in the mornings. The windows have fitted 'plantation style' shutters which can be used at night or left partly open for more light as required. There is full central heating which means the flat is warm and cosy even in the coldest of weathers.

Anne has a cleaning lady who comes weekly to 'do' the kitchen, bathrooms, dusting and floor cleaning. There is a small utility area with an automatic washing machine and separate condenser dryer.

Who we are

  1. Anne is recently widowed but has not let that affect her travel bug. As well as the city life, she loves foreign travel. She is now keen to explore further afield, to visit other cities and meet like minded people, especially other seniors who enjoy this marvellous retired life.

Favourite recent trips have been two glorious weeks exploring the artistic wonders of Renaissance Florence, a memorable time in Amsterdam enjoying the delights of Kingsday and a stupendous long haul exchange to Australia. She decided to stick to Europe in 2016/2017 and recently has very much enjoyed a fortnight in Copenhagen and a shorter swap in Valencia. 2018 saw her most successful family swap ever - a magical 12 days in Bella Roma!

In the future, she would be keen to receive offers in addition to the suggested destinations given above. Cities preferred, as she love art galleries, but also open for more rural spots if accessible - do please email her. On occasions Anne might also bring her daughter and 12 year old grandson for company but mostly she travels solo - and enjoys it that way.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Nottingham's Lace Market is an historic quarter in the centre of this small but vibrant Midlands city. It is here that the old lace factories and warehouses that were the core of Nottingham's past wealth have been turned into restaurants, bars and luxury loft apartments complexes. Although our street, Short Hill, is very quiet, it is only a stone's throw from the main shopping and entertainment areas with many bars, restaurants and theatres within easy access.

Nottingham's new Contemporary Art Gallery is at the end of our road as are the Courts of Justice - both 'must sees' for the tourist. Nottingham has 4 theatres, all within walking distance, a concert hall and numerous cinemas including the Art CInema Broadway which is also just along the road. Nottingham Castle with its Robin Hood connections is a 10 minute walk away, and although Sherwood Forest and the other Robin Hood sights are all 'out of town', they are easily accessible by public transport. The city's train station is 5 minutes walk away as is the bus station, so there is little need for a car - unless you really want to travel further afield, such as to the Peak District which is 40mins away by car. Here you will find 'Chatsworth' perhaps the greatest of England's stately homes - a joy to visit.

For those who are used to larger cities, if you tire of Nottingham, it's a great location for accessing the rest of the UK.

The station has good access to London and the other major cities. London is less than 2 hours by train, York, Sheffield and Leeds around 90 minutes. Even Scotland is only a few hours away by car or train.

For health conscious visitors, Nottingham has a public bike hire scheme (free for the first 30 minutes) but you need to be fit as the city has many hills. Having said this, you can avoid the hills by cycling along the canal tow paths which start nearby the apartment.

And for cricket fans - it is ideal! As Trent Bridge is just a 15 minute stroll away. Perfect for Test matches or the T20. Cricket fans will understand of what I speak!
