We built our house in 2012 to personal specification, loosely modeled on our last home in Switzerland. It is a large spacious home, particularly well suited to families but perfectly suitable for couples or groups too. It has two floors and a basement where there is a games room that converts to extra double bedroom. Two of the bedrooms are en suite and there is a further family bathroom. The master bedroom has a Juliet balcony overlooking the orchard where we keep our hens - you are welcome to help yourself to free range eggs! Our home has a beautiful music room, kitchen and two terrace areas for all fresco dining.
We are a family of 5 sharing our time between England and Switzerland where we also have a home in Zurich. The contrast makes both places equally desirable and we hope that you will find our English home and environs as satisfying as we do. Both of us work full time and with three school age children, we will mainly be looking for school holiday time exchanges.
Situated at the foothills of the beautiful Mendips and an easy drive to the Quantock hills, south and north coasts of Somerset, Dorset and Devon. Our local train station affords easy and quick access direct to London in just over an hour. Our local towns of Wells, Glastonbury and Bath are tourist destinations in their own right but are complimented by the local delights of for example Cheddar Gorge and the Wookey Hole Caves. For those who enjoy shopping, we have the outlet centre of Clarks Village on the doorstep where all the well known brands have stores offering discount prices. The local bridle paths and official trails e.g. The Monarch's Way offer delightful days out in the open countryside with well placed local hostelries en route for sustenance. Our little village has approximately 300 residents, an ancient church and a fine restaurant. There is no public transport however and visitors will find a car essential. We do have a garage full of bicycles as the Somerset levels are spectacular cycling country, and you are welcome to use these.
